Thinking About Startup Life?

You’ve got questions. Will I thrive in a startup? How do I find the right one? What’s it actually like? We help people like you figure that out – and find roles where you’ll do your best work.

The Questions You're Actually Asking

If you’re reading this, you’ve probably been thinking:
Am I too senior for a startup?
No. Startups need experienced people. What matters is whether you’re energised by building things from scratch or frustrated by the lack of structure.
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It depends on the company’s stage, your role, and how they structure compensation. We’ll be honest with you about what to expect for specific opportunities.
This is the right question. We only work with companies we’ve properly vetted. And we’ll share what we know – the good and the challenging – so you can make an informed decision.
People do. It’s not a one-way door. But most people who make the leap wish they’d done it sooner.

The Honest Version of Startup Life

We’re not going to romanticise it. Here’s what’s actually true:

THE GOOD STUFF:

Your work matters.

You'll see the direct impact of what you do - sometimes the same week you do it.

You'll learn fast.

Wearing multiple hats isn't just a phrase. You'll develop skills you didn't know you needed.

You'll have real ownership.

Not just responsibility without authority. Actual ownership of decisions and outcomes.

The people are different.

Less politics, more "let's figure this out together." (Usually.)

THE HARD STUFF:

Ambiguity is constant.

If you need clear processes before you can work, you'll struggle.

Resources are limited.

You can't always buy the best tools or hire more people. You make do.

Things change. A lot.

Priorities shift. Strategies pivot. What you were hired to do might evolve.

It's not for everyone.

And that's genuinely okay. Better to know now than six months in.

A Quick Gut Check

Read these and notice your gut reaction:

You're probably wired for startup life if:

You might want to think twice if:

Neither list is “better.” They’re just different. The question is which one sounds more like you.

Where You Might Fit

We work with startups and scale-ups across the UK, with growing connections in the US (especially robotics and AI). Here’s what that looks like:

Technical & Engineering

CTOs, VPs of Engineering, Staff Engineers, Technical Co-founders. Increasingly: Robotics Engineers, ML/CV specialists, ROS developers.

Product & Design

Heads of Product, Senior Product Managers, Lead Designers, UX specialists.

Commercial & Growth

Sales Directors, Marketing Leads, Customer Success Leaders, Growth specialists.

Operations & Leadership

COOs, Operations Directors, Finance Leads, General Managers.

Company stages: Early-stage (2-15 people) through scale-up (15-100+). Some are bootstrapped and profitable. Some are funded. All are building something real.

What Happens If You Get In Touch

We’re not a job board. We don’t blast your CV to 50 companies. Here’s how we actually work:

We have a conversation

Not an interview - a real conversation. What are you looking for? What kind of environment brings out your best work? What matters to you right now?

We're honest with you

If we don't have anything that fits, we'll tell you. If we think a role isn't right for you, we'll tell you that too. We'd rather lose a placement than put you somewhere you'll hate.

We share what we know

When there's a potential fit, we'll tell you everything - the opportunity, the challenges, the team dynamics, the real culture (not the careers page version).

We stay in touch

Even if the timing isn't right now. Good opportunities don't always line up with when you're actively looking. We'll reach out when something relevant comes up.

Curious? Let's Talk.

No commitment. No pressure. Just a conversation about what you’re looking for and whether we can help. If we can’t, we’ll tell you.

One More Thing

We know recruiters have a reputation. Pushy. Transactional. More interested in their fee than your career. We get it. All we can say is: have a conversation with us and see if we’re different. If we’re not, you’ve lost 30 minutes. If we are, you might find your next chapter.
